Chai Dairy Free Milkshake

Prana Chai Milkshake! One of our favourite foodies Sam aka @wholesomepatisserie has taken her love of chai to another level by whipping up a refreshing chai infused milkshake, dairy-free of course!

" If you love your chai, all you have to do to make yourself one of these beauties is to infuse your chai into your milk as you usually would strain it, chill it and then add it to your blender along with a generous serving of vanilla ice-cream. Blend, blend, blend and drink drink, drink,  drink! Oh, don’t forget those toppings!! I added the cinnamon stick and star anise for photo purposes only but I will admit the cinnamon stick infused extra deliciousness whilst sipping away!"

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups almond milk or any thin dairy-free milk of choice
  • 1 tbsp Prana Chai, for any loose leaf chai
  • ½ tbsp maple syrup
  • 3 scoops any dairy-free ice cream of choice
  • toppings
  • 1-2 scoops any dairy-free ice cream of choice
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao nibs
  • ½ tbsp crushed peanuts
  • 1 cinnamon stick, optional
  • 1 star anise, optional

METHOD

  1. Combine milk and loose leaf chai in a medium-sized pot over high heat. Whisk to blend the tea.
  2. Heat milk until bubbles begins to appear around the edges, reduce heat to low and simmer slowly for 12 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk through maple syrup.
  4. Strain mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-proof jug. Place in the refrigerator until cold.
  5. Pour into a high-speed blender along with 3 scoops vanilla ice-cream.
  6. Blend on high for 10 seconds.
  7. Pour into a serving glass/or glasses and top with an extra scoop of ice-cream, cacao nibs, crushed peanuts and optional cinnamon stick and star anise.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
