maritza barone

Maritza Barone is an Australian TV presenter, radio host, podcaster, voice-over artist, speaker and content producer who has recently joined the RAK Foundation to help spread random acts of kindness around the world. We had a cup of chai with Maritza to find out a little more about her and her work.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I am a TV and radio presenter/producer who has worked in the media industry for over 15 years. I am a mum to two incredible young ladies who are the light of my life and am very happily married to my childhood sweetheart whom I met when I was only 17 years old. I am someone who looks at life from an angle of positivity ad gratitude;  I am always curious about learning and educating myself, and my biggest passion is traveling and exploring of the world.

What inspired you to start your podcast? What has been the most challenging part of it and what has been the most rewarding part?

Having been in the media for so long, I had a burning desire to use my voice for content that I was truly passionate about. I had worked on various wellness programs over the years and had met incredibly inspiring people in the well-being industry during my career. However, I found the interviews we were having were quick and structured for television, and I felt that the discussions we had behind the scenes were those that needed to be heard the most. They were raw and real and left me wanting to adapt my lifestyle for the better.

That's where Things You Can't Unhear was born. It has been such a fulfilling experience sharing these conversations and journeys that can, and have already, changed the lives of my listeners, like they did for me.

Creating a self-produced podcast allows me full creative freedom and flexibility, so it is wonderfully refreshing from a presenting and production angle. I have now also started to take the podcast live with panel events to go even deeper with the messaging.

What are your current obsessions?

My current obsessions are personal growth and spirituality-based books and podcasts. I especially love Mind Valley, which has been a major positive influence in my life. I am a highly inquisitive person and love to self educate. I have also started a twice-daily meditation practice that has been wonderful for my creative thought process and keeping a healthy mindset.

What are some questions that you wish people ask more, and why?

  • What lights your soul on fire?
  • How did that make you feel?
  • What can I do to help you?

Deep conversations are one of life's greatest pleasures. I love surrounding myself with like-minded, inspiring and positive people who have an optimistic outlook on life and share their thoughts honestly and authentically.

If you could be anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would that be and what do you want to do there? Who do you want to meet?

New York has been calling me for many years ... and it just so happens I will be there in October this year! I am looking forward to exploring the city, meeting people from all walks of life, riding my bike in Central Park, dining out and experiencing meditation at a couple of NYC's top studios.

Finish these 3 sentences:

In the evening before bed I usually … meditate.

I think we all can ... choose to be kind, no matter what.

Prana Chai is ... just like love in a cup.

Let us know where we can find you!
