Turmeric Golden Chai

Turmeric, the golden spice that's been used in food and medicine since ancient times and may be one of the most beneficial spices when it comes to health. Studies show that Turmeric, and its active ingredient Curcumin, can reduce inflammation, increase the antioxidant capacity of the body, improve brain function, lower risk of heart disease, ease depression and so much more.

The Healthy Journey shares with us her delicious recipe for Turmeric Golden Chai! 

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric
  • 2 tsp fresh chai
  • 1.5 cups almond milk or your milk of choice
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (this makes it extra creamy and filling)
  • 2 tsp sweetener of choice. I used some Loving Earth Coconut Nectar

Thermomix Method

  1. Add all ingredients to your Thermomix bowl and cook for 5 minutes, 80 degrees, speed 2
  2. Strain liquid into your mug
  3. Discard the chai mixture
  4. Place the liquid back in the bowl and pop the lid on
  5. Whizz for 10 seconds on speed 8
  6. Pour into a mug and enjoy

Stove Top Method

  1. Place all ingredients into a small pot and simmer for 5 minutes
  2. Strain liquid into your mug
  3. Discard chai mixture
  4. Place the liquid into a blender and whizz until nice of frothy (you can skip this step if you wish however it won’t be frothy)
  5. Pour into a mug and enjoy
