- What’s the biggest misconception about you and why?
I don’t actually know! If I had to guess, it might just be my age. I think a lot of people tend to think I’m a lot younger than I am and perhaps don’t take me that seriously (not such a bad thing)
- What did you care about most when you were 12 years old?
Spending time with my friends.
- What was the last thing you changed your mind about?
I can’t even remember, I change my mind so often that it happens several times a day.
- What is your guilty pleasure?
Not much guilt about it but getting a facial from Sam Johnston at Little Company is the ultimate indulgence.
- Morning routine?
Vedic Meditation first thing, essential oils then get Willow (my daughter) up and ready for the day (as well as myself).
- What are your top 5 instagram accounts and why?
- If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be and why?
A willow tree (surprise). No idea why but I have always loved them ever since I can remember.
- Do you drink chai? if so, how do you like to drink it?
My most favourite chai ever was a chai mylk we used to make when I had ACE, a mix of organic brazil and cashew nut milk with a whole lot of doTerra essential oils (cinnamon, ginger, clove, cardamom, black pepper + on guard).
- Where can people find you and what are you most excited about at the moment?
I’m most excited about all the new and amazing people I am yet to meet, running a lot of workshops (all to do with alternative health), teaching about and selling essential oils.
Prana Chai Recipe - Maca-damia Butter Chai
This recipe is from Sita Huber who is a passionate speaker and thought leader with a breadth of experience and knowledge that spans clinical practise, health media and leadership. Sita radiates a healthy lifestyle and brings back a sense of ease and natural flow to healthy living. We interviewed her a couple month ago and here is her recipe for us.
The perfect spicy warm up for winter, with a touch of nutty macadamia to remind us of Australia and sun. Bulletproof-style coffee is a staple in Sita’s diet protocols, and there are a few reasons this type of beverage works for the body. Firstly, when we go off sugar and dairy, we automatically step into a whole new world of the alternatives. But soy and nut-milks are not the only options. In fact, from a metabolic and healing standpoint, they don’t have much to offer. Instead of just defaulting to ‘milk substitutes’, let’s work from a more advanced strategy – dietary fats, which will help us address a number underlying issues and see a whole spectrum of benefits.
By adding grass-fed butter, nut butter, coconut oil, ghee, or even heavy cream to our coffee we help slow the release of caffeine, and stabilise the output on the adrenals. Effectively this helps us to ‘more gently’ consumer caffeinated beverages. This is a key lifestyle move for anyone with chronic stress, hormone imbalance, autoimmunity or adrenal fatigue.
Fats helps to signal the hormone leptin, which is a satiety hormone. So we feel more full. The calories in fats will also give us some clean slow burning fuel, giving us a two-fold metabolic boost: energy and appetite both are stabilised.
Fats are actually quite sweet, so the pleasure factor and enjoyment is completely met, without sugar. When I’m advising on dietary changes, the biggest fear is that it will be restrictive. When my patients realise that they can eat creamy decadent foods, it totally changes the game.
Changing your coffee or chai ingredients is one simple way you can start to improve your health and promote your body’s natural healing. Hormones are messengers in the body, responsible for all communication near and far. We have to consider how what we are eating is impacting their ability to communicate.
Here’s a recipe for Macadamia Butter Chai to support your hormones and ease us into winter.
- 2 cups unsweetened natural almond milk
- 2 heaped tablespoons Prana Chai
- 3 tbsp grass-fed butter
- 2 tbsp macadamia butter
- 1 tsp maca powder (superfood powder from Peru for adrenal and hormone support)
- Heat almond milk in a saucepan, then stir in chai
- Steep for 3-5 mins then pour through strainer
- Place in blend with butter, maca and macadamia butter. Blend for 15 or so seconds until creamy
- Pour into 2 mugs and enjoy!
